Trinity Industries, Inc. is a Dallas based multi-industry company in the transportation, industrial and energy sectors. Founded in 1933 as an agricultural business, Trinity has grown to become a leader in the production of railcars and barges for both freight and passengers. The company’s core industries also include construction products, highway products and services, rail components and services, storage containers, tank containers and steel processing (Trinity Industries Inc., 2020).

Background: Thomisan Equipment Company was founded by O.W. Thomison in 1933 with its headquarters located in Dallas Texas (Forbes Magazine 2021). In 1954 Thomison changed the name to Trinity Industries which better represented their broadened scope of business operations that included marine fabrication as well as other general engineering works (Forbes Magazine 2021). Over time Trinity acquired several companies that specialized in manufacturing rail cars for both freight and passenger transport including Bombardier Transportation North America (BTNA) which it purchased from Bombardier Aerospace Division during 2001-2002 period( Forbes Magazine 2021).
